I am a Boston-based photographer of activism from Fairhope Alabama. My passion lies in making activist photographs that capture a part of the landscape of American culture. By documenting activism, I hope to inspire viewers to become more engaged with current events beyond their immediate worldview. Through publishing my work online and beyond, I additionally seek to lend normalcy to the notion of being continually involved in activism.

I make activist photographs in two methods: photographing protests directly and photographing life in current context.

I first picked up photography at the age of 13 with a simple Fujifilm pocket camera. For a long period of time, most of my knowledge on photography was self taught, save for learning a few new concepts on lighting and composition in high school television production classes.

In 2015, at the age of 17, I started publishing my work online under the Nate Shots label with the intent of making a name for myself as a photographer. While I had occasionally conducted photoshoots for a handful of friends, my primary joy in photography had always been exploring.

Today, my love for exploration still holds true as I am driven to photographically explore how current events manifest themselves around me. From 2016 to 2020, I studied communications and photography at Emmanuel College in Boston.

From 2017 to 2019, I worked at Apple as a creative pro, teaching Apple customers photography through photo walks around town and photo labs. In the summer of 2019, I also interned for a social media marketing agency, Metter Media, to expand my commercial photography portfolio.

In the fall of 2019, I departed from Apple to focus on further advancing my skills in making activist photographs during my senior year of college. In a time of progressively quickly evolving media attentions, I felt compelled to help create a long-term platform for progressive activism.

Through my collections, I hope you can enjoy my explorations with me. If you find my work to be of any interest to you — and you would like to purchase it, feature it in a gallery, or make a commission — feel free to contact me.
